Product Care Guide

We want to ensure your furniture lasts and can be enjoyed for generations, and that is why our passion for quality continues even after you get your furniture.

We work with pre-seasoned hardwood timber, carefully selected to guarantee and withstand a hard, long life. We are also committed to protecting the environment and we only work with reclaimed, recycled or sustainable-certified timber. All our products are locally sourced and manufactured, supporting the local industry.

To enhance the natural beauty of the wood and protect the timber we use natural oil and wax finishes. These are non-toxic, food safe and environmentally friendly.

Timber care

Wood is a natural product and is therefore subject to the effects of the environment. Grain can dry out and colour can slightly vary over time. Splits and cracks may develop and this is part of the natural wood ageing process, it is not a flaw and will not damage your piece of furniture.

While it usually takes a day for the final coat of finish to completely dry out, the surface needs to be cured to be fully protected. Most of our furniture is made to order, so we recommend that extra care is taken in the first three weeks of receiving your furniture. This includes, in the case of a table, using a table cloth or old sheet to protect from potential spills during usage, then removing the cover at all other times to expose the surface to air to assist with the curing process.

To preserve your wooden furniture as best as possible:

  • Avoid direct contact with sunlight, heat and liquids

  • Regularly remove dust and dirt using a damp cloth (not abrasive)

  • Do not use cleaning products as these are too harsh

  • Clean spills as soon as possible

  • Do not place very hot items (such as pots and casserole dishes) on your table as this will burn the timber

  • Avoid contact with acids such as lemon juice or vinegar. If this occurs, clean and wipe dry straight away

Timber normally dries out with time and re-finishing of the surface might be required. The speed at which this happens depends on the conditions of the surrounding environment and how well a piece of furniture is maintained.

We use OSMO® in all our products, an oil/wax wood finish made from natural products that helps protect the wood while enhancing the timber’s natural beauty. We therefore recommend using OSMO® products for regular maintenance. These will be available for purchase soon. Please follow the instructions for the application.
